Founded in 1976, Special Olympics Hong Kong (SOHK) is one of the Special Olympics Programs striving to deliver training and activities of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities aged 8 or above to unleash their potential, build self-confidence, demonstrate courage, and through sharing joy with their family and peers, to facilitate their integration into the community.

Every year, SOHK provides thousands of athletes and participants with intellectual disabilities from more than a hundred of agency members with over 50,000 opportunities in multiple activities, sports including athletics, badminton, basketball, bocce, bowling, floor hockey, football, golf, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, speed skating, figure skating, snowshoeing, swimming and table tennis.

Apart from sports programs, SOHK develops various non-sport programs such as Athlete Leadership, Family Network, Healthy Athletes®, Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics, Motor Activity Training Program, Unified Schools and Young Athletes.
